Description :
The region has been the theatre of intense fighting during the conflict. It was controlled by armed opposition groups before the government forces eventually took it back after eight months of siege in 2013.
In 2021, unexploded ordnances have been reported in farmlands surrounding the villages of Zara and Hasrajei. Local authorities thus plan to deploy decontamination units to clear them.
