Description : A team of the Papoua New Guinea Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the ICRC, organises Community Based First Aid Training sessions for communities members.

The Community Base First Aid Training (CBFAT) covers techniques that can be used at the first site of accidents. It can help save the lives of those wounded in a fight who can’t find medical help immediately and works with communities to utilise their tools and perspectives.

This training is very unique and set in a way that is simple and straight to preexisting/traditional techniques suiting the local’s understanding.

Injuries that occur during tribal fights include gunshot wounds, spear wounds, fire burns and blunt traumas.

Community Based First Aid Training is very demanding in the areas where the Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society is working, and people who attended and become Community First Aiders do save many lives and survivors of rape.
