Description :
For the past seven months, Vira (the lady in the centre) has been providing medical assistance to her neighbours. The village was the scene of intense fighting before the front line moved. Day after day, Vira assisted the inhabitants by walking from house to house under the shelling, as the local hospital was heavily damaged.
"I realised that I could die at any moment. About six missiles exploded in my garden. But I never thought of leaving my people," she says.
The ICRC team distributes essential medicines, bandages, food and hygiene kits to civilians.
