Description :
Fatima is the mother of six children, two of whom are married. She was displaced to Rafah and now lives in El-Karama camp. One of her daughters was killed with her husband and young daughter in an attack on her home. She is now one of the people working in the ICRC's community bakery project. The ICRC provides financial support for the construction of traditional community clay ovens and supplies firewood to the community to subsidize bread production for vulnerable people living in camps in priority areas. The aim is to give vulnerable households access to cooking facilities. Target: 13,860 households, 69,300 people.
Fatima says: “This war has brought total destruction - psychological, financial, everything. We've lost everything: our lives, our homes, our memories. Even our children's schools and education are gone. [...] Honestly, I had no intention of leaving because, during those wars, I never left my home; on the contrary, my home was a refuge. But this war, for the first time, has instilled fear in our hearts. [...] My daughters fell to the ground, frightened by what they saw. [...] We didn't adapt; we simply accepted reality because we had no choice.”
