Group psychosocial support sessions help enhance the participants’ ability to deal with the shock of loss and find a way to interact positively with the memories left behind by their loved ones. “Whenever I miss him, I read his diaries. Before the sessions, it was impossible for me to open this notebook. I was afraid and ran away from the subject, but one day they told us to bring something for the missing person. I brought this notebook, and since that day, whenever I miss him, I open and read his diary, hoping to ease my feelings and keep his memory always present,” is how Fatuma describes her experience in dealing with the memories of her missing husband.
