Description :
In the Alibori and Atacora departments in northern Benin, the ICRC and the Benin Red Cross (BRC) conducted a humanitarian operation from May 20 to June 1, 2025, to support communities affected by food insecurity and tensions. This intervention provided assistance to 2,000 households (15,000 people) by distributing 65 tons of maize, cowpea, and rice seeds for the upcoming harvests. In July, 142 tons of food supplies were also distributed in Benin, and 213 tons in northern Togo, to meet one month's food needs.
Additionally, a vaccination campaign was organized to protect livestock, which are essential for the livelihoods of families. Vaccination agents were trained to improve animal health.
Beyond material aid, the operation focused on listening to and raising awareness among communities about their rights and protection mechanisms. Thanks to collaboration with the Benin Red Cross and local authorities, this initiative sowed seeds of resilience and renewed hope in challenging circumstances.
