Description :
The ICRC delegation in Ukraine organized a conference to present the updated Commentary on the Fourth Geneva Convention. The event gathered representatives of state authorities, non-governmental organizations, the diplomatic community, legal practitioners, and academics to discuss the practical application of the Commentary and the broader importance of treaty interpretation in International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Ukrainian and international experts delivered keynote addresses and participated in a panel discussion, focusing on how the ICRC Commentaries contribute to the development and implementation of IHL in contemporary armed conflicts. Participants also engaged in interactive exchanges, Q&A sessions, and informal networking during the event. Simultaneous interpretation in Ukrainian and English was provided throughout.
The conference was organized with the support and cooperation of the Norwegian Red Cross and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
