Description :
On 14 September Croatian Red Cross opened a safe playground for seventy children who will go to a new kindergarten. The aim of the program "children playgrounds without mines" is to prevent injuries and death of children in mine contaminated areas by providing safe locations to play and secure place for families to spend free time. An original idea of playgrounds was born in the local branch of Red Cross in Vinkovci, in northern region of Croatia in 2001, and soon was taken up in other mine contaminated areas. The Hrvace playground was the 38th, built by Croatian Red Cross in cooperation with local authorities, business partners or with support of sisters towns from abroad, and the ICRC.
