Celebrating Women's Day in the West Bank

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized a number of activities to support Palestinian women living under harsh conditions, especially those most affected by the armed conflict.

In the West Bank, and in close cooperation with the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), the ICRC organized workshops in marginalized rural areas, by providing training on health and domestic issues, such as first aid and health awareness. In addition to the ICRC's initiatives, the Palestinian Civil Defense Department coordinated training on domestic issues. These activities were conducted in Bethlehem, Jericho, Tubas and Nablus.

Al-Maleh is located in Area C of the West Bank, and is surrounded by closed military areas with a military presence. This isolated Bedouin community suffers from poor access to different services, including medical care.

The PRCS provided medical treatment from a mobile clinic, as well as first aid and health care training. The ICRC provided the participants with first aid kits.
