La grave crise politique à Madagascar a eu comme conséquence une augmentation considérable de la pauvreté, particuillèrement à Antananarivo. Une grande partie de la population est ainsi obligée de trier les déchets pour survivre. Les enfants ne vont pas à l'école et vivent dans des conditions particulièrement insalubres.
