Description :
The Peste des Petits Ruminants is considered one of the most deadly diseases faced by sheep and goats in Yemen. The Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture decided to launch a vaccination campaign as a preventive measure in February 2013, after as many as 400 animals might have died of PPR in the previous six months. The campaign was run by the Livestock department in Amran governorate. The ICRC supported to campaign with equipment and vaccines, and financed the rent of cars, fuel and the incentives for the vaccinators. The campaign is due to last for some 60 days, during which time 48 vaccinators from the Livestock Dept will work in 16 teams and vaccinate up to one million animals.
