Description : As part of the 2016 Remembrance day commemorations, families of ICRC employees killed in the line of duty, current, former and retired ICRC employees together with representatives of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement gathered in Geneva.
Participants met at Place des Nations. There they could discover a special photo exhibition, entitled "A Ray of Hope - A story of Commitment", which was the starting point of a march. The exhibition pays tribute to ICRC employees who have lost their lives in the line of duty over the past twenty years old, illustrating the depth of their commitment to aiding victims of war around the world.
As a symbolic gesture, the 2016 Remembrance walk followed the same route as the Solidarity march that took place in 1996 after the tragic events in Novye Atagi.
At the end of the march, flowers were handed out to all participants.
After speeches and a minute of silence, everyone laid his flower by the ICRC and Geneva city flags that were on display at ICRC headquarters to mark this special day.
