“My husband did not want to leave our house in Bashiqa. We had to flee in 2014. This was the hardest experience. When we came back in August 2017, we found our house completely destroyed. Now we live in a rented place. We knew this would happen. But still, we can rebuild a house, but we cannot bring people who died back to life. I am always worried about my children. I don’t let them play alone on the street. This fear is inside me, it is always there, it became part of me. All we wish for is peace in Iraq.” says the woman.
