Description :
The 10-year-old sister wants to become a dentist and the youngest one, who is 8 years old, wants to be a doctor. Today they are not able to go to school everyday because the 10 km separating their house and the nearest school are densely contaminated by landmines and explosive remnants of war. If by chance a car passes by their isolated area during the morning, it’s a school day! But most days it is not.
Their brother also explained to the ICRC the difficulties he, his family and his neighbours have to face everyday: "Landmines are a permanent fear. Because of them people I know got killed, many relatives got injured, children are not allowed to play outside and we lost many cows, our only source of income. So far this year we lost four of them. Our family lived in this area before the beginning of the conflict. Then our parents had to flee for their lives and ours. We were displaced for many years. But six years ago we had no choice but to return here because we couldn’t afford housing anywhere else."
