Having responded positively to the treatment, becoming livelier and more playful, he is due to move to the next phase of treatment and the doctors are confident he will make a full recovery.

The facility, which is located in central Somalia has seen a spike in cases of severely acute malnourished children, notably because of the ongoing drought in the country.
“By car, when you depart [from my village Ooflow] in the morning, you will arrive in the evening. The hospital is not close” says the mother.
