Description : Due to the fighting between armed groups in North Kivu, many people have not been able to farm the land of the surrounding hills. Others have been displaced and forced to leave their villages with only the clothes on their back. With no land, tools or means to farm at all, these people depend on the host communities. Thus, access to food, land, jobs and resources become increasingly scarce for both the displaced people and the host communities. In addition to that, the Mosaic disease has wiped out many hectares of cassava crops. This is leading to tensions between communities, competition for limited food and ultimately hunger and malnutrition.
