Malik Kawari, a 6-month-old baby, was severely injured in a missile attack while in the arms of his uncle, a Civil Defense first responder, who lost his life protecting him. Malik suffers from a fractured pelvis and severe shrapnel injuries to his right leg and left arm, requiring intensive care and surgeries. His mother, an emergency nurse, balances her work with caring for her son, who is now immobilized and recovering. The family was also forced to evacuate their home in the Morag area. His mother hopes that Malik will one day be able to walk again.
