Description : The ICRC expresses its deep concern over the intensification of clashes in the territories of Masisi, Nyiragongo, and Lubero in North Kivu province. In accordance with international humanitarian law (IHL), it is imperative that all persons who are not participating or are no longer participating in hostilities are protected under all circumstances.

The security situation has significantly deteriorated in Sake, a locality near Goma. The ICRC's medical teams, particularly at Ndosho hospital, are facing a massive influx of wounded individuals in urgent need of care. A similar situation is being observed in Beni and Bukavu, in the neighboring province of South Kivu, where humanitarian needs continue to grow.

In response to this crisis, the ICRC reaffirms its commitment to providing vital assistance to victims and calls on all parties to the conflict to respect the fundamental principles of IHL in order to protect civilians and medical infrastructure.
