Description : Originally from the village of Moboye, Christine became paralyzed at the age of 3. Despite her disability, she adapted to her situation with the help of a hand-pedaled tricycle provided by a local convent. Her devoted brother Emmanuel fished in the river every day to ensure she had food to eat.
In 2016, their lives were turned upside down when a militia attack struck their village, claiming the life of their nephew. Forced to flee, Christine and her family crossed the Oubangui River to seek refuge in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). During the escape, Christine had to leave her tricycle behind but was transported to safety.
After spending several years as a refugee, Christine was finally able to return to the Central African Republic. Thanks to the ICRC's physical rehabilitation project, she received a new tricycle, which restored much of her independence. Today, Christine earns a living by selling food and small items in Bangui, embodying courage and resilience in the face of adversity.
