Description :
Photo taken between the 4th and the 6th of August 2010.
Part of this consultation is a measurement of height and weight to define the body mass index (BMI) of the prisoners and identify potential cases of malnourishment. Health staff in Zimbabwe prisons have been trained by the ICRC since April 2009 to carry out this procedure as a standard one. They are in charge of prescribing therapeutic feeding when necessary and to follow up the prisoners' treatment until they recover. While ICRC provided therapeutic feeding products during the first months of the emergency in 2009, the Zimbabwe Prison Service has since taken over the supply of the necessary therapeutic food.
