He is is eating "Plumpy nut", a rich therapeutic food. His malnourished condition was identified in the screening procedure. Health staff in Zimbabwe prisons have been trained by the ICRC since April 2009 on screening procedures to identify malnourished prisoners. They are in charge of prescribing therapeutic feeding when necessary and to follow up the prisoners' treatment until they recover. While ICRC provided therapeutic feeding products during the first months of the emergency in 2009, the Zimbabwe Prison Service has since taken over the supply of the necessary therapeutic food.
