Description :
The opening ceremony was attended by ICRC interlocutors and authorities. From left to right: Oboré director, Sérgio Gomes; the president of the Brazilian Red Cross (CVA), Roseli Sampaio; the head of the ICRC Regional Delegation to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, Felipe Donoso; the National Secretary for Social Coordination, Paulo Roberto Maldos; the Director of Community and Human Rights of the Military Police of São Paulo State Police, Colonel Glauco Silva de Carvalho; and the special assistant to the president of the Latin American Memorial Foundation, Luis Avelima.
The exhibition is on display in Sao Paulo during April 2014. It consists of 63 historical and current photographs, plus videos and explanatory panels, illustrating some of the humanitarian relief operations done by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, since ICRC’s foundation in 1863, until the present day. It also brings to the public an overview of humanitarian response and of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) developments, which are constantly adapted to give a proper answer to the ever changing nature of armed conflict and other situations of violence around the world.
