Description :
To facilitate the exchange of views and experiences on the provision of health care services in places of detention in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the ICRC organised a three-day regional seminar in Kuwait on 24–26 November 2014, in close cooperation with Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior and the General Secretariat of the GCC. Around 25 health and security officials from GCC countries took part in the seminar, the first such event organised at the Gulf regional level. The participants discussed important topics such as access to health care, physical and mental health, stress management and the role of medical doctors in places of detention. On the last day of the seminar, a guided tour to the Central Prison in Kuwait took place for all participants.
