Description : Afghan patients with severe physical disabilities, such as amputations and paraplegia, as well as those suffering from congenital diseases with physical side-effects like polio and cerebral palsy, were treated at the center. Enebral Perez (38) was shot by a long-term patient at the center who was being treated after suffering the effects of polio. The motive for killing is still unclear. The orthopedic center closed in the days that followed the death. Passive security upgrades are being implemented and ICRC hopes to reopen soon.
