Baalbek. This 32-year-old-mother of three, came back to Lebanon 4 years ago when the Syrian armed conflict affected her hometown in Homs. Her husband was forced to stay in Syria as he cannot afford to pay the renewal of his residency’s papers to enter Lebanon. She is one of the ICRC’s Micro Economic Initiative Program’s beneficiary. She learned sewing and knitting in Syria and, to provide for her family, she developed her business thanks to the sewing machine and the raw material provided by the ICRC in 2016.

“The immigration from Syria to Lebanon was difficult, especially for our young kids”, she said. “It has been three years that I am living alone with my kids”, the Lebanese refugee confessed, adding that she has also to take care of her baby niece, as her sister is ill. “I paid my debts and the rental fees with my first remuneration. Now I can afford to buy toys to my kids”, she said, adding: “It is a new life for me. I don’t depend on someone’s financial help anymore”. She is willing to develop her business, by expanding her network and open her own clothing and accessories store. Her priority is to help her husband coming back to Lebanon and insure a better future for her children.
