Description :
In just over four years, the ICRC team has carried out more than 22,000 operations. They react to mass casualty situations, usually stemming from violence in the region, and other severe medical emergencies. The ICRC works alongside local medical staff at the hospital. The ICRC's approach to health in Maiduguri is multi-disciplinary and goes beyond the initial surgical support. The medical team seeks to ensure that each patient gets continued care as necessary. The ICRC runs physical rehabilitation programmes and offers mental health support to those who need it.
