Description :
When the storm hit, she hid in the house with her children before the winds ripped the roof off. She then fled to her neighbor’s house, where she waited out the storm. In the months that followed, she rebuilt her home, but violence in the area is making her life more difficult. She can no longer attend to fields outside of Macomia town, for fear she would be attacked. This leaves her constrained to land and resources closer to the town. She is among the many being affected by armed violence in northern Mozambique. Attacks on villages have been recurrent in Cabo Delgado since 2017.
