This mother was reunited with three of her five children, from whom she was separated during the evacuation of the city which followed the call launched by the province governor on the 26th of May 2021. The call urged the population to seek shelter against a potential new eruption of the Nyiaragongo volcano.

Description : Many people were separated from their relatives in the context of the eruption of the 22nd of May 2021 and during the following days. The ICRC provides technical, financial and logistical assistance to the Red Cross Society of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (RCSDRC) for family tracing. Since the 23rd of May on, more than 180 unaccompanied children were identified. More than 140 of them are already reunited with their families.
