Description : Inhabitants of the western districts of Goma have neither a connection to a public water distribution network nor a sewage disposal system. Water-borne diseases, including cholera, are endemic. The lessons of major health crises are clear: it is far more cost-effective to invest in a robust water system now than to respond to major cholera outbreaks. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every dollar spent on water and sanitation generates a return of at least $4 in the economic sphere.
