Caption : Goma, Lake Kivu. Men washing their vehicles. Lake Kivu is used to cover most of the water needs of the city of Goma. While the water pumped, treated and distributed by the water authority is of good quality, this is not the case for the water supplied by private transporters or street vendors, whose chlorination is not controlled. The absence of a wastewater recovery network aggravates the ambient insalubrity.
