"There are 16 houses on our street, but only half of the residents stayed. We grow our own food, and this helped us a lot to get through the most difficult period. Of course, when we received items hygiene and food parcels, we were happy. There is only one store open now and it is very expensive. I was happy to receive soap to do laundry, it helped very much.
While the fighting was ongoing my neighbors, an elderly woman, and her son, were wounded by shrapnel and I took care of them for four weeks. There was no possibility to take them to the hospital – they kept asking for hot water. Hot water and paracetamol – this was their only treatment for several weeks."
