Description : Salima Kabwe, the mother of Celine Kiza, 13 years old, who is being treated at the Fizi General Referral Hospital, recounts: "It was a Sunday. During the night, while we were sleeping, several gunshots rang out. My daughter came out of her room, crying. She was covered in blood after being shot. We took her to a nearby health facility to stop the bleeding, and very early in the morning, we brought her to the Baraka hospital. The staff we found there advised us to take the ICRC vehicle since the child's condition was critical."
The recent clashes have led to a sharp increase in the number of weapon-related injuries, putting significant strain on the operating theater of the Fizi General Referral Hospital (HGR). Since the end of December 2025, the number of weapon-wounded patients treated at the HGR in Fizi, supported by the ICRC, has quadrupled, placing surgical teams under considerable pressure.
