Description :
Testimony of Fabienne Angel, who is being treated along with her 15-month-old baby at the Fizi General Referral Hospital: "When the shooting started, I had my child on my back. While trying to take refuge inside a house, a bullet went through my child's foot before hitting me in the thighs. We were first taken to Lulimu Hospital for initial care. Later, we were transferred here to Fizi for further treatment."
The recent clashes have led to a sharp increase in the number of weapon-related injuries, putting significant strain on the operating theater of the Fizi General Referral Hospital (HGR). Since the end of December 2025, the number of weapon-wounded patients treated at the HGR in Fizi, supported by the ICRC, has quadrupled, placing surgical teams under considerable pressure.
