Description : The International Committee of the Red Cross, in collaboration with the Provincial General Reference Hospital of Bukavu (HPGRB) and the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB), has established a surgical training center to effectively address the challenges of providing medical care to weapon-wounded individuals and victims of armed conflicts and violence in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This center, based in Bukavu, brings together various local Congolese and international medical expertise, particularly in surgery, anesthesia, and nursing care.

From January 1 to 25, 2025, 99 wounded individuals were treated in Bukavu, including more than 70 related to the M23 conflict.
