Description : "That day, I woke up at 5 a.m. for the morning prayer, as I do every day. I had a cup of tea and went to work in the olive field near my village, Al Hajalieh (also known as Al Kavukli). There, I stepped on a land mine. I remember the explosion made a loud noise, and my friends took me to the hospital."
Before, I was able to work in the olive, tomato, and wheat fields, but now I can no longer work since I lost my leg. Give me back my leg if you can; I would even be willing to collect trash from the street. After what happened to me, I have too many illnesses—I feel tired and sad; I can't walk, I can't work."
Talal Jomaa Alfraij has 5 sons and 1 daughter. He currently lives with his children and their families; there are 18 of them in total.
"We never took up arms. I have always refused to let my sons be armed because their mother died while giving birth to our youngest son, Haney, 25, when we were living in Azaz, and I cannot abandon my sons."
