Description : The violence that included killings, burning of homes and intimidation of civilians forced many residents to flee and seek refuge on the other side of the river Ubangui, in the Likouala sector in the Republic of the Congo, in October 2009. According to government officials, nearly 115,000 people crossed the river.
Teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been assisting the local populations, displaced persons and returnees since the violence began in 2009.
