Description :
Kavira, mother of two children, makes her living out of cultivating manioc, beans and peanuts. As a Red Cross volunteer, she goes from door-to-door in her community to talk to people about Ebola, its prevention and what to do in case of symptoms. She says she was indeed scared when she first heard that Ebola had arrived to her home town and many rumours about it were circulating. "At first people thought it was a joke. They were saying it was because of a poison or something mystical," she says. Kavira joined the local Red Cross four years ago after her son was hit by a motorcycle taxi and saved by a Red Cross first responder. She now wants to give back and help others in return.
