Description :
The police officers play a key role in the fight against the Ebola virus. Often on the move and in contact with the populations, it is important to implicate them in the Ebola response and help them protect themselves too. The ICRC has donated hand washing points and thermometers to the local police in Ebola-affected areas. Information sessions and demonstrations of correct hand washing technique have also been organized. The police officers have a lot of questions about how the disease is transmitted and how to prevent it to protect their families and peers. Because avoiding contact with others is critical during an Ebola outbreak, we encourage them to avoid sharing a cigarette or shoes with each other and remind them to clean up well their equipment before passing them around.
