Description : She is one of seven children in her family to have lost a limb to an explosive ordnance explosion.
On April 29, 2018, while walking to school, a group of children from the Gul family found an unexploded ordnance. They brought it home, where one of the children dropped it. The device exploded, scattering hundreds of fragments, killing four people and seriously injuring several children. Seven children had to have at least one leg amputated because the bones and tissues were too badly damaged. Two boys lost both their legs.
When they were released from hospital, they were taken care of by the ICRC orthopedic center in Jalalabad. They are now being cared for by the orthopaedic organization in Kabul, where a former patient and apprentice of the ICRC orthopaedic center works.
