Description :
The boy is around ten years old. He is a native of Diffa, a region in the east of the country, on the border with Nigeria and Chad, which has been going through waves of violence for several years. On the night of June 4, 2018, during the month of Ramadan, a neighborhood was the target of a series of suicide bombings. It was in the third explosion, which occurred in the corridor of their home, that the boy lost his leg. His grandfather perished in the attack. The boy was taken to hospital overnight in critical condition. His family had little hope. “We thought he would succumb to his injuries,” says his mother.
After several hours of waiting and despair, he began to breathe again. "We waited several hours for the doctor to confirm that our child was still alive, but the explosion cost him a leg."
