Description :
With a view to strengthening the resilience of populations affected by the vagaries of conflict and climate change, the ICRC has initiated a pilot project to promote 2 types of improved metal stoves (type 1 and 2) in partnership with the association Jeunes Volontaires pour l'Environnement, for the benefit of 1,205 displaced households in the urban commune of Téra. The results of the study show that the cost of wood purchased by households per week following the acquisition of the 2 types of improved stoves has been drastically reduced. The reduction, which ranged from 40% to 60%, varied according to household size. The acquisition of these stoves also reduces exposure to safety risks and helps control energy consumption.
