Description : The Central African Republic has experienced a long running insecurity and conflict over the past four decades. The ICRC is one on the only humanitarian actors that works across the whole of the country including the remote villages in the north. The delegation in CAR was first opened in 1997 working mainly for the protection of people arrested in link with mutinies and to promote international humanitarian low in the city of Bangui. It increases its operations in 2006 to provide assistance to the tens of thousands of civilians that have been affected.

The ICRC has been supporting villagers in Balamba, by building latrines and showers for the school and drilling a clean water source. Villagers fled to the bushes for months because of conflict, abandoning their homes and crops.
