Description :
Haseeba, age unknown, determined and philosophical, cleaner at the ICRC orthopaedic centre, married with six children:Haseeba and her family fled Kabul during the bombardment of the city in the early 90s. They fled north, to a rural area near the town of Charikar. She was 7-years-old when she was playing with a broomstick with her brother in the fields next to her house. She spotted a mine with wires attached to it and although she had been warned of the dangers they decided to attach the wires to the broomstick. When they pulled the wires, sadly, the obvious happened, the mine exploded and dismembered her right leg. 10 of Haseeba's relatives have lost limbs to mines including cousins, cousins' children and an aunt who was killed. 2 relatives are double amputees and don't want prosthesis and 6 family members continue to receive treatment from one of ICRC's 7 orthopaedic centres in Afghanistan.
