Description : This man has learned to polish amber and will now teach the others in the camp, who are learning amber polishing to supplement their incomes.

This activity is part of a program co-organised by the Myanmar Red Cross Society and the ICRC, working on livelihoods projects for displaced people.

In Kachin State, around 80,000 people have had to flee their houses during the outbreaks of violence, leaving homes and livelihoods behind. They now live in camps or are staying with relatives across the State. The ICRC and the Myanmar Red Cross Society work hand in hand with displaced families to identify activities.

This program is largely funded by the ICRC and carried out by Myanmar Red Cross Society volunteers.
