Description : The boy has just arrived at the Centre to be fitted with a prosthesis for the first time.

To arrive at the Centre, he made a five day boat journey with this father, who works in an oil palm plantation in southern Myanmar.

They will have to come back to the Centre every six months to have his prosthesis checked and replaced as he grows.

The centre is run by the Myanmar Red Cross Society, with the financial and technical support of the ICRC. In 2013, 60% of patients were landmine or unexploded devices victims. Since the Second World War, Myanmar has witnessed an accumulation of landmines and unexploded ordnance that has affected untold numbers of people.
