Caption : Belgrade. The home of Rados Deverdzic's family. Rados and his son Misko were, according to Misko, “taken prisoners by the members of KLA” during the 1998-99 Kosovo conflict, when they drove their Albanian neighbors to safety. Misko was found alive, but Rados was never seen again. The family left Kosovo at the end of the conflict in fear for their safety. They have been staying in an abandoned sewage company ever since.

Description : Fourteen years after the conflict, in central and northern Serbia there are roughly 88,000 internally displaced Serbs from Kosovo, many of whom still live in collective centers, or occupied housing, and receive little assistance. Kosovo was their place of birth and for many, the place that they only ever knew until the conflict of 1998-99 when many had to leave. Some still have houses in Kosovo, but their return remains uncertain. Some lost relatives during the conflict and a number of them are still waiting to learn about the fate of their missing loved ones.
