The ICRC set up its Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) in 1979, marking the beginning of a major commitment in this field. Since then, the ICRC has acquired a leadership position in physical rehabilitation, thanks to our broad range of activities worldwide, the development of its in-house technology and our acknowledged expertise and its long-term commitment to assisted projects. PRP projects are planned and implemented to strengthen services already offered in the country concerned with the primary aims being to improve the accessibility of services for the physically disabled, upgrade the quality of those services, and ensure their long-term availability.
