The match was fast, furious and left the audience in no doubt of the sheer strength and skill of the players on the court. 12 Malaysian male national players and 8 Cambodian female players played in mixed teams in the hour long match. The ladies’ skills were tested not only on the match day itself but also the previous day as they were put through their paces in a training session led by Malaysian Assistant Coach Fazlan Ismail. The match served to showcase the abilities of the players instead of focusing on their disabilities.
“We are happy. We learnt new skills and had new experiences on this trip” said the captain of the Cambodian’s Women Wheelchair Basketball team said.
