An ICRC employee relates: "I was feeling relieved when I took this shot at a hotel in Mount Hagen. We had organised a workshop on international standards on the use of force for police officers from across the highlands. The morning of the first day came and most of them still hadn’t checked into the hotel. Then, at the last minute, they all started arriving and lining up to register – these tough-looking guys queueing up politely for their name tags. They were quiet at first but quickly opened up. We use former police to run these events. The cops respect the message more when it comes from their own."
