Description : The woman says: “When we have cultivated these crops, you have to come back. You have deserved an appraisal and we want to thank you. Before this, we have only been eating green leaves. We are worried that some of the crops can get stolen from us, but we hope we will be ok”.

Around 13.000 people were provided with seeds, tools and food in Rokon, central Equatoria. The host communities of this area are experiencing increased tension and pressure, following an influx of displaced people after fights in the region.
Equatoria is traditionally a rich part of South Sudan, with a farming population. The intensification of the conflict have left many persons unable to farm their land and many have also lost their belongings while fleeing. The ICRC therefore focuses mainly on the distribution seeds and tools to displaced persons and host communities, to allow people to get back to farming. In addition to this, they are also given protection rations of food in order to have something to eat before they can harvest their crops.
